President and Chief Executive Officer, Dean G. Norman, and Chief Financial Officer,
James “Jay” Y. Robinson III founded Emerson Partners in 2005.
Dean Norman has worked extensively with property management including single family rental, multi-family rental and land acquisition. He is currently Executive Vice President of Gold Toe Brands, a branded apparel company with over $200 million in revenue. Norman has over 20 years of senior management experience in sales, marketing and operations. Other real estate ventures include Blade Properties, Low Country Partners and Reliant Properties, which are all active real estate LLCs. Norman holds a BS Degree from North Carolina State University, an MBA from Wake Forest University and is a registered Real Estate Agent and Broker in the State of
North Carolina.
James “Jay” Y. Robinson, III has over 16 years of financial and management experience. He spent many years with Peat Marwick specializing in Partnership Taxation and brings his in-depth knowledge of finance, accounting, and taxation to Emerson Partners. Robinson is currently a Senior VP with a multi-state restaurant chain. An avid real estate investor, Robinson is also a partner in Blade Properties, Low Country Partners and Reliant Properties. He has served as the Chief Operating Officer for these partnerships and will bring these management skills to Emerson Partners. Robinson received an Accounting Degree from Appalachian State University.
EP partner Algie M. Grubbs, Sr. uses his extensive real estate background to conceptualize and execute the company’s real estate investment strategies. Grubbs has been involved in the listing, selling, acquiring, and the managing of real estate for 28 years. A resident of Hilton Head, South Carolina, Mr. Grubbs is a past Chairman of the Hilton Head Area Association of Realtors. He holds certifications in various specialties that enhance his business expertise (CCIM, CIPS, GRI, CRS, CRB, ABR, & RECS). His local knowledge of the real estate market in the South Carolina Low Country is a competitive advantage for Emerson Partners.
EP partner James “Jim” Y. Robinson, Jr. AIA is responsible for Planning, Design and Entitlement for projects identified and undertaken by Emerson Partners, Inc. He has over 35 years of experience in the field with successful developments in North and South Carolina. Robinson was a senior principle with his own development company. His experience is extensive in the fields of architecture, design, and entitlement having been Director of Design and Marketing for Ferebee Walters and Associates, a senior principle of KRA, Inc. and JYR Architects. During his career he has been active on the local, regional, and national levels of industry groups including the American Institute of Architects. In 2004 the Chamber of Commerce recognized him as the Citizen of the Year for Hilton Head Island. Jim holds 3 architectural degrees, two from Tulane University and one from Rice University. He is a licensed architect in South Carolina, North Carolina, Georgia and Louisiana. He is a member of the National Council of Architectural Registration Board. Jim has also authored many articles and technical papers on cost control and construction administration techniques.
EP partner J. Nathan Duggins III is a partner at Tuggle Duggins & Meschan, P.A. a multi-practice law firm in Greensboro, North Carolina. Duggins’ practice areas include construction and real estate litigation, land use and acquisition, and general business litigation. Duggins is an active real estate investor and is partners with Norman and Robinson, III in Blade Properties, Low Country Partners and Reliant Properties. Duggins holds an undergraduate degree from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and a Law Degree
from Wake Forest University.
